With a delivered price of less than $600 for a 12K btu unit, this is a very good deal. Installation requires a vacuum pump--a good investment for another $50 or less. There are many online videos regarding the installation of these mini-split heat pump/AC units. The units are very quiet--the outdoor condenser is barely audible from 15 feet away. Indoor, the air handler fan quiets down to a gentle whisper after reaching the set temperature. The 12K unit has no problem cooling or heating a 400 square foot space.

I am an A/C Tech, I bought this for my own home, and would buy it again. Good quality, easy install. I recommend it, but please have a tech do the vac and start up for you if you're not qualified.

Only a couple of things to remember. If your unit is for a second floor, order a longer line set. This seems to work really well on a hanger bracket.

When the ambient temperature is lower than the temperature set by the air conditioner, the air conditioner will heat up.

Q:
What does "AUTO" mode do on the remote? I read the instruction manual and it doesn't say what it actually does. Once you set the mini-split to auto mode it doesn't allow you to set a Temp using ^/V arrows, so if it's meant to set it automatically to a certain temperature I'm not sure how to make that work.
A:
After turning on the auto mode, press the ventilation mode to force low air in the first 20 seconds, after that the machine will determine the operation mode according to the ambient temperature inside and outside the room. You cannot adjust the temperature by yourself in auto mode.
